Devils Never Cry - Chapter 2

Chapter 2:
Enter Komiya: Duel with a Delinquent

Ryu and Mizore made it to the auditorium just in time. Finding some seats, they listened as the teachers explained the rules of the Academy which were to always stay in human form, and never to reveal your true identity to anyone. It won’t take people long to figure out who and what I am. I won’t be able to hide that I’m a Black Devil for long… Ryu thought, looking around at all the freshman. He almost seemed to be trying to read their auras, trying to get a feel for their levels of power. Tch… I can’t sense a single person in this room who is stronger than A Class… he thought in a brief lapse of vanity. As a Black Devil, he was classified as an S Class Ultra Monster, even though he was still young.
The bell rang again as the entrance ceremony ended, and Ryu yawned a bit. He was about to stand up when he heard a voice.
“Hey hot stuff, why are you sitting next to that geek?” Ryu looked out the corner of his eye and saw another student, a male, talking to Mizore.
“Not interested. Sorry,” she said, picking up her bag. The other guy just smirked and grabbed her wrist.
“Come on. Ditch this loser, and come play with me. I can show you a good time,” he said. Mizore groaned in disgust at the thought.
“Let go of me before I turn you into an ice sculpture,” she said coarsely, glaring at the guy holding her wrist. The grin quickly turned to a frown, and he yanked on Mizore’s wrist.
“I’m not asking. I’m telling,” he said gruffly. That was all it took. It all happened in an instant. A black blur caught the guy in the cheek, knocking him into a group of chairs. It was Ryu’s foot, which had delivered a powerful kick faster than anyone could track. He gracefully landed on the floor and pushed his glasses back onto his nose.
“Take a hint, jackass. The lady doesn’t want anything to do with you,” he said calmly. The other student groaned as he looked up at Ryu from the floor, rage and hate in his gaze.
“Who the hell do you think you are?! How dare you disrespect me like that!” he shouted. Students began to form a circle around them, watching with great anticipation as the year began with a dust-up.
“It’s quite simple. I’m her boyfriend, and I’m not going to let scum like you try to take advantage of her. Now come on. Pick yourself up, and show me what you got,” Ryu said, shaking his hair out of his eyes. The other guy wasted no time in charging the prince, completely unaware of just who it was he was facing. He drew back his fist, and threw a punch at Ryu’s face. But his attack was simply blocked by the young Devil, who delivered an attack of his own, in the form of a kick to the stomach of the other student.
“Urk!” he grunted, coughing up blood. He fell to the floor, clutching his abdomen. Ryu just stood in front of him and looked down at him.
“I’d like to at least know your name before I hit you again,” he said, his tone devoid of emotion, as if the situation was typical, everyday stuff.
“I’m Saizou Komiya. And you made a big mistake messing with me, punk,” he said as he shakily got to his feet. Ryu just smirked, and tucked a lock of hair behind his ear.
“Funny. I was gonna say the same to you. The name’s Ryu Tokugawa, and you made the biggest mistake of your life by hitting on Mizore. Now, I don’t know about you, Komiya, but I’m really not in the mood for this. A low-class delinquent like you is not worth my energy. So I’d recommend keeping your distance from me, or else you’re gonna end up a world of hurt,” Ryu said calmly, turning his back to Saizou, and taking his bag from Mizore. As the couple began to walk out of the auditorium, Saizou came running up behind them.
“I don’t care if you are a Black Devil! Eat shit and die!” he shouted, drawing back his arm to take another swing at Ryu. Stopping on the spot, Ryu quickly turned, delivering another strong kick to Saizou’s gut, dropping him to the floor again.
“Come after me as much as you want. The result will always be the same,” he said, turning his back to Saizou, who was on the ground, twitching.
“This isn’t over, Tokugawa. I’ll get you for this, I swear…” he groaned. Ryu just ignored him, and left the auditorium, Mizore by his side. When they got outside, they left campus to find the dorms. Mizore cleared her throat, trying to get Ryu’s attention.
“Thank you, Ryu. For standing up for me back there,” she said, smiling softly. Ryu just returned her smile, and kissed her forehead.
“Happy to do it, Mizore. Guys like Komiya make me sick, whether they’re human or not. You’re mine and mine alone, Mizore,” he said, stroking her cheek, and staring into her eyes. She met his gaze, blushing a rosy pink.
“Hey, before we check the dorms, wanna get something to eat?” she asked shyly. Ryu nodded, and gently took her hand. They made their way to the school store with the intent to buy some things to make a tasty lunch. After buying everything they needed, Ryu and Mizore walked back to the dorms. To their surprise, the dorms were double rooms, and they wound up with the same room. After finding their building, they went upstairs to their room, and got settled.
“It’s a lot bigger than I expected,” Ryu exclaimed, taking off his shoes, and putting the bags of groceries on the counter by the door. Mizore set down the bags she was carrying, and stretched.
“Mmm. I think it’s quite cozy. It’s a good thing we wound up together. I would’ve hated being stuck with some stranger rather than my golden devil,” she giggled, smiling at Ryu, who had taken off his uniform jacket, and was putting it in his closet.
“No argument there. Just proves we’re meant to be together. And do you know what the best part is?” he asked, looking over at Mizore. When she saw the smile on his lips, she couldn’t help but smile as well, and walked over to him. She reached out wrapped her arms around his chest, pressing herself against him.
“What’s the best part, Ryu?” she cooed, blushing at him. Ryu smiled, and placed a soft kiss on her lips, which Mizore didn’t hesitate about returning.
“The first thing I’ll get to see every morning for the next four years will be my little snow bunny. I couldn’t ask for anything more perfect,” he said, whispering against her lips. A soft moan escaped Mizore’s lips, and her legs got wobbly. She lost her footing, but Ryu caught her. As she looked into his deep blue eyes, she gently grabbed his glasses, and took them off.
“While these things make you look really sexy, the glare hides your eyes,” she commented. Ryu smiled, and took his glasses, setting them down on the nearby nightstand.
“Luckily, I don’t need them to see you smile, Mizore,” he replied. Mizore said nothing, but threw herself at Ryu, knocking him onto one of the beds. He landed on his back with Mizore sitting on his waist. She placed her hands on his chest, and smiled at him.
“I want to hear everything about the last 8 years, Ryu. I missed my golden devil terribly,” she murmured. Ryu reached up and stroked her cheek with one hand, his smile never fading.
“I’ll tell you everything over lunch, snow bunny. I promise,” he said softly. And with one last quick kiss, the young couple got off the floor, and walked back to the kitchen area to make a nice meal.
