Devils Never Cry - Chapter 6

Chapter 6:
Duel at the Dorm! Enter the Legendary S-Class Monster!

I wonder where Saizou is… I expected him to come after me again as soon as classes were over for the day… Ryu thought to himself. But suddenly, he sensed a fast-approaching youki, and gritted his teeth.
“Watch out, Mizore!” he shouted, pushing her out of the way in time to take the brunt of Saizou’s punch to his face.
“Damn it!” Saizou growled, jumping backwards as Ryu took a swing at him. Mizore picked herself up off the ground, and dusted herself off. She looked at Ryu, seeing a trail of blood coming from the corner of his mouth. His glasses were also badly cracked.
“I knew you’d come sooner or later,” Ryu hissed, throwing his broken glasses aside. “Very well, then. Let’s end this here and now, Komiya! I’m not gonna go easy on you after a sneak attack like that!” he yelled, preparing to fight.
“Hehe. Bring it on, Your Highness,” Saizou said mockingly, his body trembling. “I’m not holding back either. And with my blood pumping like this, I can’t help myself!” he growled, shredding his human disguise. He grew larger and larger, his body covering itself in bony spines, and his muscles bulging. “This is my  true form… an Orc!” he roared, his voice becoming deep and distorted. Ryu, however, just smirked, and began forming a strange series of signs with his hands.
“Fool. I won’t need to even to release the first seal to wrap this up. However…” he said, closing his eyes, and making one final sign. When he opened his eyes again, they were pure white, and glowing. “I’d still prefer to see the look on your face when I grind you into dust!” he shouted, grinning.
I’ve never seen him this riled up before. But… I get the feeling he’s still just toying with Saizou, Mizore thought as she watched. She knew Ryu well enough to know that it only took a small amount of his youki to use a partial transformation like this. Still, she was hoping that Saizou wouldn’t get lucky and win.
“Be careful, Ryu! He may be stronger than he looks!” she called to him. Ryu looked over his shoulder and nodded in agreement.
“Never drop your guard, Tokugawa!” Saizou shouted, punching Ryu in the chest with his massive hand.
“Ugh!” Ryu groaned as he hit the ground. Saizou laughed at the downed Prince.
“Is this all you’ve got, Tokugawa?! Just as I thought, you Black Devils ain’t nearly as strong as everyone thinks! At least put up a fight before I break you!” he laughed. But to his surprise, Ryu disappeared. “W-What?! Where’d he go?!” Saizou shouted. As people gathered to watch, Ryu’s voice could be heard from all around them.
“Pitiful. I almost expected more of a challenge from you, Saizou Komiya. But I can see I was wrong,” he said. Then, he stepped out of the shadow of a tree, a smirk on his face. “You aren’t dealing with some weakling, Komiya. I’m highly skilled in youjutsu. What you just saw was only a basic demonstration of what I can do,” he said, cracking his knuckles. He then charged Saizou, who responded by grabbing him with one hand and lifting him above his head.
“I don’t care how skilled you are! I’m gonna crush you like a bug!” Saizou began to clench his fist, applying tremendous pressure to Ryu’s upper body. To Mizore’s surprise and shock, he actually began to groan in pain.
D-Damn… I may be over-doing it, but I have to draw out that S-Class aura I’ve been sensing. But I need to drag this out a bit longer before they choose to get involved, he thought. Gathering his strength he forced open Saizou’s fist, and dropped to the ground, landing on his feet.
“Grr… You’re a slippery one. No matter. I’ll teach you not to underestimate me again!” Saizou roared, kicking Ryu into the wall of the dorm. Mizore ran over to him to pull him out of the stone.
“Ryu, are you alright?” she asked, concerned for his health.
“I’ll be fine. Just trust me, Mizore. I have a plan,” Ryu answered, getting to his feet. Dammit… His strength is totally different in this form… And it’s a lot harder than I thought to pull this off. Heh, maybe faking youjutsu will be enough to draw out our mystery S-Class, he thought, beginning to form more hand signs.
“You don’t mean to…” Mizore began, but Ryu kept going.
“Black Devil Secret Technique…” he began but a voice suddenly called out.
“Honestly… The great Prince Tokugawa couldn’t handle a teenage Orc without having to resort using youjutsu? How disappointing,” the voice said. Ryu whipped his head in the direction of the voice, and leaning against a tree was a girl with long silver hair and blood red eyes. “I had expected you to hold back for a low-class fool like this, but seriously. You’re just making yourself look like a chump, you know that, right,” she said with a smirk. Ryu couldn’t help but grin, and lowered his hands.
“You’re a vampire aren’t you… I’ve always wanted to see one of your kind in battle. Care to take over from here?” he requested. The girl simply chuckled and stepped forward.
“Alright, then. I wouldn’t mind getting some exercise anyway,” she said, brushing her bangs out of her eyes.
It can’t be… Red eyes… Silver hair… and her youki levels are at least twice as strong as my own… Mizore thought in bewilderment. As Ryu stood next to her, putting his arm around her, she looked up at him.
“Ryu… She’s really one of them, right? A legendary S-Class Super monster? A vampire?” she asked. Ryu nodded as he watched the girl.
“No doubt about it. I thought I had sensed another S-Class youki aura nearby, but I never thought a vampire would be here at the academy,” he said. The vampire girl looked Saizou dead in the eye, and smiled.
“Come on. Let’s get this over with. I’d like to have a word with the prince, and you’re just in the way at this point,” she said calmly. Saizou growled, and charged her.
“Don’t you dare mock me!” he screamed. The vampire just scoffed, and quickly raised her leg, kicking Saizou hard in the head.
“You should realize your place,” she said as Saizou was sent flying into a nearby wall.
“Y-Yes ma’am…” he said weakly, and then lost consciousness. Ryu smiled, his eyes returning to their human blue. The vampire girl approached Ryu and Mizore, a smile still on her face.
“You didn’t have me fooled for a second, you know. You put that show on for my own vanity, didn’t you? Just as an excuse to get me out in the open,” she said with a smirk. Ryu laughed.
“You caught me. But before you go disappearing, I think some introductions are in order. I assume you know who I am already,” he said. The girl laughed.
“There isn’t a single person at this entire Academy who doesn’t know who you are, Your Highness. Even with as much pride as we vampires have, we still recognize the staggering strength of the Black Devils. I for one am not so prideful as to let it go to my head, though. My name’s Moka Akashiya. It’s a pleasure to finally meet the Black Devil Prince face-to-face, although I never thought it would be here,” Moka said. Ryu smiled, and rubbed his cheek. It was still sore from where Saizou had punched him, but he was already healing. It was then that Moka really noticed Mizore standing at Ryu’s side.
“And who are you? I saw how Ryu pushed you out of the way of that first punch. You must be very important to him, to make him take a hit so readily,” Moka said. Mizore nodded.
“I’m Mizore Shirayuki. I knew Ryu when we were children, and vowed to one day reunite with him. He’s very dear to me. Being with him warms my icy heart,” she said softly, blushing slightly. Moka smiled.
“So you’re a snow fairy, huh? Well, you two make an interesting couple, but who am I to judge,” she said, laughing. Ryu looked at her, his blue eyes meeting her fierce red gaze.
“I don’t mean to pry… But is there someone who’s precious to you, Moka?” he asked. Moka’s smile disappeared, and a faint, rosy blush crept to her cheeks.
“Well, personally, I don’t understand love, but there is someone who is precious to me. I’ll introduce you to him sometime. But right now, I’ll see you both later. I have other things to do,” she said walking towards a guy with short brown hair. That guy… I remember seeing him at the entrance ceremony… And his arm… he’s got a Lock just like me… Could he… Ryu thought, but was derailed when Mizore kissed him.
Returning his snow bunny’s kiss, the prince couldn’t help but think that things were about to get very interesting at Youkai Academy
